Russia is the first country to run covid 19 vaccine by August

Russia is on a mission to be the first in the world to supply the coronavirus vaccine in market in less than two weeks, despite concerns about its safety, effectiveness and over whether the country has cut essential corners in  development .

Russian officials said that they are working toward a date of August 10 or earlier for approval of the vaccine, which has been created by the Moscow-based Gamaleya Institute, reported CNN in an exclusive report.
At first the frontline fighters of covid 19 will get the vaccine . It means doctors , nurses and health workers .
But Russia has released no scientific data on its vaccine testing and CNN is unable to verify its claimed safety or effectiveness . Critics say the country's push for a vaccine comes amid political pressure from the Kremlin, which is keen to portray Russia as a global scientific force .

While some global vaccines are in the third phase of trials, the Russian vaccine is yet to complete its second phase. Developers plan to complete that phase by August 3, and then conduct the third phase of testing in parallel with the vaccination of the medical workers.
The whole world is looking forward and praying that the vaccine become successful . And the world will get relief of this ongoing Pandemic .

Every Year South Koreans eat more than 1 million dogs .

Slaughtering dogs and eating their meat may horrify Americans, it's a longstanding custom in South Korea and other Asian nations. Most South Koreans don't eat dog meat, though a minority do. Young South Koreans are abandoning the tradition, even as animal rights groups campaign to end this culture .
South Koreans, however, historically regarded dogs as edible farm animals, not loving indoor companions. Dogs were more plentiful than cattle, which were scarce and valued for farm labor such as pulling carts and plowing fields .

That lingering view affects how South Koreans consider dogs today, as the country grapples with its practice of raising dogs for meat and dog meat consumption itself.
About 2.5 million dogs are raised in South Korean dog farms each year. About 1 million are killed and eaten. The rest are used for breeding with many dogs dying because of the farms' high mortality rate, according to Humane Society International, a Washington, D.C.-based organization that advocates for animal  protection worldwide . source : USA today .

Hagia Sophia opens for Muslim prayers after 86 years

Thousands of Turks performed prayers at Hagia Sophia for the first time since Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared the monument, revered by Christians and Muslims for almost 1,500 years, a mosque once again .

Clerics in white robes recites from the Holy Quran .  Mosaics and frescoes of Jesus and Mary were draped with curtains.
The 1,500-year-old Unesco World Heritage site became a museum in 1934. A top Turkish court announced this month it had annulled Hagia Sophia's status as a museum.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded quickly to the ruling, vowing that the world-famous site would be ready for Friday prayers from 24 July, and he was seen joining worshippers at around midday  .
As crowds grew, leaving little space for social distancing, Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya said authorities had stopped people entering the area due to concerns about the spread the Covid=19 .

Oxford Covid-19 Vaccine Is Safe and Promising

An University of Oxford group and the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca reported Monday that their coronavirus vaccine candidate, on which the U.S. and European governments have placed substantial bets , was shown in early stage in  human trials to be safe and stimulate a strong immune response .
Trials involving 1,077 people showed the injection led to them making antibodies and T-cells that can fight corona virus .
The vaccine - called ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 - is being developed at unprecedented speed. It is made from a genetically engineered virus that cause the common cold in chimpanzees.
It has been heavily modified, first so it cannot cause infections in people and also to make it "look" more like corona virus .
There were no dangerous side-effects from taking the vaccine, however, 70% of people on the trial developed either fever or headache.
The researchers say this could be managed with Paracetamol .

Prof Sarah Gilbert, from the University of Oxford, UK, says: "There is still much work to be done before we can confirm if our vaccine will help manage the Covid-19 pandemic, but these early results hold promise ."

The results so far are promising, but their main purpose is to ensure the vaccine is safe enough to give to people .

More than 10,000 people will take part in the next stage of the trials in the UK.
However, the trial has also been expanded to other countries because levels of coronavirus are low in the UK, making it hard to know if the vaccine is effective.
There will be a large trial involving 30,000 people in the US as well 2,000 in South Africa and 5,000 in Brazil . Because Brazil is now hotspot of corona virus .

US President finally wears mask

American President Donald Trump  wore a face mask in public for the first time . Finally yielding to intense pressure to set a public health example as the covid 19 virus rampages across United States .

Given his intransigence for so many months, it was a small but significant gesture at a time when coronavirus cases are surging in the US and the President has failed to grasp the depth of the crisis or offer any coherent strategy to control the spread of the virus.

While he was willing to wear the mask to protect US service members, Trump made it clear this week that he viewed the hospital setting as a unique one -- clinging to his insistence that there is a "time and place" for masks amid a raging pandemic that has claimed that lives  of at least 134,815 Americans.
